Building Insulation
How It Works
The High Point Center is so well insulated one should think of the building's exterior as a protective shell. This protection from weather involves a strong foundational structure, a tightly sealed building and systems to control the heat, moisture and air in the building.
These elements are not just vital for our physical comfort, but are also key to keeping the building materials functioning properly and energy use low. Longer lasting materials save natural resources and energy.
Did You Know?
- Structurally insulated panels (SIPs) consist of a layer of insulation between two layers of plywood (like an ice cream sandwich). This reduces the amount of wood used and insulates the roof from heat loss.
- Up to 40% of your home's heat loss is due to air leakage.
