How It Works
The path that timber takes from the forest to the customer is one of the most scrutinized of all consumer goods.  Like dolphin-free tuna, the international community has set up an accountability system to preserve environmental and social justice in the cutting, distribution and sale of timber.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is widely viewed as the most independent and credible global forest certification system.  Wood products that are FSC certified must be tracked through the chain of production and must respect local community needs as well as internationally-agreed upon guidelines.

Over 75% of the wood used in the building is FSC certified.

Did You Know?
  • The reception desk at the High Point Center is made of recycled timber from the original High Point gym.
  • FSC-certified wooden cabinetry and window trim throughout the center is formaldehyde-free, which improves air quality.

At Home

If you have a home project, look for certified lumber at your local home improvement store.  If you don't see it, ask stores to carry it.
