Green Team takes off
A diverse group of volunteers interested in sustainable living and building has formed under the banner of the Neighborhood House Green Team.
The team’s role is to help identify practical innovations that will connect the Neighborhood Center’s green elements and LEEDtm design features to interactive displays to educate a diverse multi-age, multi-cultural audience about living green.
Our vision is to build a technologically-advanced center that combines services and environmental learning opportunities. The center will be situated in an urban setting comprised of residents from all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
The group is made up of designers, architects, engineers, residents and educators including representative from IslandWood, The Cedar River Watershed, IKEA, King County Green Team, City of Seattle’s Green Building Program and Camp Long.
The Green Team has met twice and has already provided valuable ideas and identified pitfalls. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for the middle of June.
