How does our IT director see his role?
Have you ever wondered how, with so many Neighborhood House sites and satellite offices, our Information Technology team of five is able to keep our network running so smoothly? It’s definitely a team effort, and at the helm is Farhad Hyder, who has spent the past 20 years wearing a variety of hats in IT. Not bad for a cellular biology major, who says he finds meaning in being able to use technology to solve problems.
This self-prescribed ‘technology translator’ says it’s especially important to understand how he and his teammates can solve organizational challenges with the help of technology while implementing solutions that make it easier for staff to deliver services to clients.
Despite his many years in the field, he feels there’s always more to understand.
“My team brings a renewed sense of energy and appreciation of the communities we serve. We are doing a lot of exciting new work and we are learning a lot from each other.”
Farhad, who’s originally from Bangladesh, says he’s always enjoyed working with computers, even when it was not that cool to do so. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. When he’s not working, he can be found biking, playing with his son, gardening and watching Seinfeld re-runs.
