Looking for photos of the new building during and after construction?
The new Neighborhood House Rainier Vista Center
Located in the heart of Rainier Vista, the new building is an asset to the community and the public:
- At least 2,060 sq. ft. of Head Start classrooms give children the learning space they need to enter Kindergarten ready to succeed.
- Little ones need room to run, climb and play to build strong muscles and coordination skills. An indoor playroom with age-appropriate equipment and activity areas offers children opportunities for exploration and fun.
- A fenced playground area gives kids big and small a safe and accessible outdoor play space and new play structures. This playground may be the only safe outdoor play space available to children in the area.
- Job Training and education programs are a cornerstone of our mission. Two large conference rooms provide workshop space to help job seekers locate and secure employment. These rooms are also well suited for small conferences and departmental meetings.
- Housing, family support and employment are essential for family self-sufficiency. Nine private offices allow residents to meet with multilingual Family Support Workers and Employment Specialists in a confidential, quiet space.
- Neighborhood House encourages the community to come together to promote positive change. A large multipurpose room will be open to the community as a place to hold gatherings, events, senior activities, exhibits and displays.
- Three offices offer affordable space to local nonprofits that will need a home as a result of the HOPE VI redevelopment. The Horn of Africa Services and the International District Housing Alliance are excited to share space with Neighborhood House in a model facility where neighborhood residents can access services, training and jobs.
