Front Desk Receptionist -- High Point Center

Position
Front Desk Receptionist -- High Point Center

Length of commitment
Minimum 3 months, long term desired

Hours per week
Minimum 4 hours per week, up to 20

Scheduling
Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., schedule set by volunteer and supervisor within Center open hours

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and courteous service at all times.
  • Cordially greet and assist visiting individuals and promptly answer telephone calls as needed.
  • Answer phones and relay messages in a timely manner.
  • Perform general office duties, which may include, but are not limited to: filing, typing, duplicating and other support tasks.
  • Maintain a welcoming, neat and professional environment in the common areas of the High Point Center.
  • Add to the welcoming and professional tone of a new, active community center.
  • Monitor and maintain agency brochures, other media materials, and program information.
  • Be sensitive to the needs of the diverse populations and communities served.
  • Ability to find and communicate resources to clients in need of assistance.
  • Assist with supply inventory and restock office and maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Distribute all incoming and outgoing mail and faxes.
  • Assist with tracking and filing maintenance work orders.
  • Enforce Child/Youth Rules as needed. Communicate effectively with staff and parents to maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all users
  • Receive and deliver all incoming deliveries.
  • Work with Facilities and Site Manager as needed.
  • Work with Green Initiative Americorps as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated strong verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally when providing information to callers.
  • Dependability, promptness, good judgment, initiative and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Superior customer service, organization and follow-through.
  • A strong desire to work with children of all ages.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a multicultural and multi-language setting.
  • Willingness to comply with the established agency performance standards, which may include: productivity/personal responsibility, client/customer service-orientation, embracing a team player orientation, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Washington State Patrol background clearance (re-checked every two years).
