Digital Connector Assistant/Intern

Department: Child Development
Program: Technology Center at Rainier Vista
Title of volunteer position: Digital Connector Assistant/Intern
Number of volunteers requested: 1-2 per quarter or semester
Goal of position: To assist in facilitating the youth program Digital Connectors.

SAMPLE ACTIVITIES:
Digital Connectors is a school year long youth program that focuses on technology training, media literacy, and instilling a sense of community service in youth. The program has an extensive curriculum that explores leadership skills, analyzing the media, financial literacy, and Information Technology basics. Youth gain skills that will help them in school, the workplace, as well as help them become leaders in their communities.

TIMEFRAME:
One academic quarter to one academic semester.
Length of commitment: Volunteers should commit to either a quarter or semester of the program at least. This is so the volunteer can become familiar with the programming and curriculum as well as so the youth have a chance to get to know the volunteer.
Hours per week: 2-4.
Scheduling: Digital Connectors is an after school program so programming will most likely run two days a week somewhere between 4-7pm. The specific hours of the program will be posted as soon as they are available.
Work site: Neighborhood House Technology Center at Rainier Vista

QUALIFICATIONS:
Volunteers interested in this position should have some experience working with youth, or a strong interest in beginning to work with youth.
