Volunteer & Communications Assistant
BACKGROUND
Neighborhood House is a nonprofit, multi-service agency that helps low-income people become more self-sufficient. Since 1906, Neighborhood House has been a dynamic advocate for immigrants and refugees, low-income families, and individuals with nowhere else to turn. Our mission is to help diverse communities of people with limited resources attain their goals of self-sufficiency, health and financial independence, working to build and strengthen the communities we serve.
DESCRIPTION
- The Communication Intern will provide coordinating support and administrative support to the Development Team. The following responsibilities include:
- Work with staff to identify and cultivate opportunities to promote mission, programs and activities.
- Assist in development and implementation of comprehensive communication plan for overall organization and special events.
- Work with members of the editorial team to prepare press kits and news releases in all mediums
- Work with Volunteer coordinator on special tasks, data entry, recruitment, and thank you letters.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Interest and background in communications, public relations, marketing and/or nonprofit management
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational and people skills
- Ability to work independently and catch on quickly in a fast paced environment
