After-School Youth Homework Help (West Seattle)

After-School Youth Homework Help (West Seattle)

Neighborhood House partners with diverse individuals and families to build community and achieve their goals for health, education and self-sufficiency. The Neighborhood House Family Resource Center provides a variety of services to the High Point community.

This Fall, the Family Resource Center is looking for volunteers to work 1-on-1 or in small groups with students in 1st to 5th grade to help them with homework completion, reading and other academic skill building activities. We will run two sessions on Mondays. The first session is from 3:00-4:00pm and the second session is 4:00-5:00pm. Volunteers can sign up to assist students during one, or both sessions.

This program will start on September 24th with a kick-off party for each session hosted as an opportunity for parents and students to meet volunteer tutors and for Neighborhood House staff to review the schedule and expectations. Tutoring sessions will run from October 1 to December 10.

  • Ability to work with children in a kind and patient manner
  • Genuine desire to help children learn
  • Ability to make a reliable and consistent weekly commitment
  • Previous experience in tutoring, or working with children is a plus

The program will officially kick off on Monday, September 24, with weekly sessions occurring until December 10. Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of one full session each week.
