Short Term Volunteer Opportunities - Event Support

Short Term Volunteer Opportunities - Event Support

BACKGROUND AND PROGRAM SCOPE:

Neighborhood House partners with diverse individuals and families to build community and achieve their goals for health, education and self-sufficiency. During the year, we offer a variety of fun community events, which rely heavily on volunteer support to make sure things run smoothly. These opportunities are a great option for program volunteers looking to branch out, corporate groups, or for individuals who are unable to make the long-term commitment required by most of our other positions.

YOUTH EVENT SUPPORT

1. Spring Showcase: 6/21, 4:00-8:00pm, Seola Gardens Tutoring Center: 11215 5th Ave SW, Seattle, 98146

The Neighborhood House Youth Tutoring Spring Showcase is an event where our youth will have the chance to show off everything they have learned, explored and discovered this past quarter. This event will feature presentations, live and recorded skits, art work and more! The selected theme for the evening is World Travel. The students have been hard at work preparing skits that celebrate cultural differences, discovering forms of popular art work, exploring multicultural foods and music, and there will even be a live fashion show!

Volunteer tasks will include:

  • Setting up tables and chairs
  • Food service
  • Talking and hanging out with youth
  • Event clean up

2. Summer Sounds: 6/23, 10:00am-5:00pm, High Point Center: 6400 Sylvan Way SW, Seattle, 98126

The Neighborhood House STUDIO program and Seattle Housing Authority are partnering to host Summer Sounds, a music festival that highlights and celebrates youth success in High Point and West Seattle more broadly while also connecting the community to local resources, services and colleges. This family event will feature a variety of musical performances and activities, including cultural pieces, participatory art pieces and games. We aim to use this as a means to recognize all the youth in our communities who have made personal strides at school, from advancing a year to improving a grade in a difficult class, or graduating. Live music will be performed during the event from 1-4pm. Free food will also be served to event attendees (while supplies last).

Volunteer tasks include:

  • Event Set Up
