POSITION TITLE: Summer Tutoring Program (West Seattle)
BACKGROUND AND PROGRAM SCOPE:
Neighborhood House partners with diverse individuals and families to build community and achieve their goals for health, education and self-sufficiency. The Neighborhood House Family Resource Center provides a variety of services to the High Point community.
This summer, the center will offer a summer tutoring program for children in 1st to 5th grade from 3:00- 4:00 PM on Mondays starting July 9. We are looking for volunteers to work with students 1-on-1 or in small groups during this time. Since the students will not have homework, the program will include structured learning activities. Daily activities will include 15 minutes of reading out loud, 15 minutes of mental math, facilitated enrichment activities and educational games.
- Ability to work with children in a kind and patient manner
- Genuine desire to help children learn
- Ability to make a reliable and consistent weekly commitment
- Previous experience in tutoring, or working with children is a plus
Program starts Monday, July 9. From then, volunteers need to be able to commit to program hours which are Mondays, 3:00-4:00pm.
